Reasons people Procrastinate
1. fear of failure, fear of not being good enough, fear of success
2. lack of consistency
3. negative thinking
Try the following:
- break down tasks into smaller chunks
- focus for a period of time then take a break ( even set a timer)
- create an internal/external reward system
- put yourself in a proper environment
- focus on small steps moving forward
Fear of failure
- see failure as a part of the learning process
- push yourself to take small risks
- visualize the outcome
- embrace self-compassion, and remind yourself mistakes are not a reflection of your self-worth
- celebrate small successes
Consistency
- set small daily habits/tasks that are achievable
- create a routine
- track your progress
Negative Thinking
- negative thinking can: cloud judgement, stunt creativity, diminish self-confidence and increase stress levels
- replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts that reinforce your strengths
